Fundación Repsol and EsadeGeo present Energy Geopolitics, a series that explores the interrelationship between major geopolitical shocks and the energy transition, bringing together leading international voices to understand the forces reshaping the global energy landscape.
In this first session, Ángel Saz-Carranza, Director of EsadeGeo, will be in conversation with Diego Rivera Rivota, Senior Research Associate at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University and an expert in natural gas and LNG markets, the geopolitics of the transition, and energy in Latin America. Together, they will analyse two of the current major hotspots — the conflict involving Iran and the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz — alongside US intervention in Venezuela, to assess how resilient global oil and gas markets may be, how supply flow patterns are being reconfigured, and the role Latin America is expected to play as a strategic source of energy diversification in an increasingly fragmented world.
