Chair in Energy Transition on sustainable mobility

Carbon footprint of mobility, improving air quality, analysis of emerging technologies and autonomous and connected mobility

We are moving more and more. We move to work, to transport goods, to visit family and friends or to get to know other cultures. But the current mobility model is contributing quite prominently to global warming in general and to poor air quality in cities. Transport is a sector that consumes 30% of the world's energy and generates more than 20% of CO2 emissions.

Objective of the Chair

To generate knowledge in society around the challenges of mobility and the main emerging technologies to improve air quality and reduce the carbon footprint.

One of the great challenges of the future is to create a sustainable mobility model that ensures the protection of the environment, health and quality of life of citizens, while promoting economic development. In this great challenge of decarbonising and making mobility more sustainable, technology and scientific rigour must be our allies and new technologies under development will be key.

Lines of work

  • Decarbonisation of land mobility: technologies for the decarbonisation of road transport and their environmental impacts
  • Decarbonization of land mobility: autonomous and connected  mobility
  • Decarbonisation of air mobility: technologies for the decarbonisation of air transport and their environmental impacts
  • Decarbonisation of maritime mobility: technologies for the decarbonisation of maritime transport and their environmental impacts
