The "Renewable Fuels" Chair, created in 2024, aims to promote greater knowledge about renewable fuels, promoting their use to contribute to a net-zero emissions future. The path to climate neutrality involves the search for sustainable alternatives in industry and mobility, developing new technologies and innovative solutions such as renewable fuels.
This Chair seeks to offer a space for dissemination, research and debate to address recent advances in carbon-neutral fuel production technologies; its development potential, current technological and economic barriers, research opportunities, and the policies and regulations needed to foster the development of renewable fuels.
- Renewable fuels and their evolution: the different routes for the production of renewable fuels are studied and analyzed, including the resources used and their availability, conversion technologies and final products
- Advanced biofuels: advanced biofuels obtained from biomass throughout their value chain, feedstocks, available conversion technologies and the final product and its applications are studied in detail.
- Synthetic fuels or eFuels: synthetic fuels obtained from renewable electricity are studied in detail, including the different stages of the value chain, the raw materials, available conversion technologies and their degree of development and the final product and its applications.
In addition, a Renewable Fuels Observatory will be established in which a scientific and technological analysis of the Chair's lines of knowledge will be carried out.
