Turning CO2 up: "Transforming carbon dioxide into useful products"
The students Núria Fort and Gerard Forner from the Rovira i Virgili University participated in the international festival Pint of Science, bringing science and innovation closer to society in an informative format.
In her speech, Núria Fort presented emerging technologies such as electrocatalysis, a key tool for transforming CO₂ into useful products, helping to close the carbon cycle and reduce emissions. In addition, he showed a practical experiment that illustrated how research can be turned into real solutions for sustainability, highlighting both local and international advances.
For his part, Gerard explained the operation of the CO₂ emissions trading system in the European Union, in force since 2005, using clear examples to show its impact on industry and the fight against climate change. His speech concluded with a reflection on global emissions and the enormous challenge of achieving climate goals.
This type of initiative reinforces the importance of scientific dissemination and the role of young talent in the energy transition, aligning itself with the values of innovation and sustainability that we promote at the Repsol Foundation.
