The European Union (EU) has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, identifying Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) as a key technology for reducing hard-to-abate industrial emissions. CCS can play a pivotal role in complementing renewable energy deployment and other decarbonization strategies by capturing and storing CO₂ that cannot be otherwise eliminated through existing methods.
Despite its potential, CCS deployment remains limited due to high costs, complex regulatory environments, and logistical constraints. This webinar will explore questions such as: How can the cost of CCS be reduced to ensure economic viability? What role do government subsidies and private sector investments play? What lessons can be learned from successful CCS projects worldwide, and how can they be replicated? What role does carbon pricing play in incentivizing CCS adoption, and how does it affect international competitiveness?
This webinar, organized by Fundación Repsol and EsadeGeo, brings together experts from the academic, industrial, and regulatory fields to analyze strategies to reduce costs, encourage investment, and strengthen the regulatory frameworks necessary to promote carbon capture and storage as a key tool towards a net-zero emissions economy.
