The path to climate neutrality in road transport requires exploring all available technological alternatives, beyond electrification and hydrogen. Despite huge investments by the European Union driven by the Green Deal, electrification is progressing slowly in urban areas and hydrogen vehicles are still not reaching significant production levels.
Technological diversification is key to a real and sustainable reduction in road transport emissions in Europe. In addition, the geopolitical environment and the challenges of access to strategic raw materials, which guarantee mainly European supply chains, must be considered an absolute priority for citizens. for the citizenry. It is also essential to facilitate the development of civilian-military dual-use technologies that guarantee the operability of the Armed Forces in the face of the challenges facing the European Union.
In this context, having a space for debate and analysis that brings together academia, top-level research centres and companies using innovative technologies is essential to guide the energy transition in the sector.
This event, organized by the Repsol Foundation together with the Corell Foundation, will feature the participation of leading experts and representatives of the sector, who will address the technological, economic, regulatory, and social aspects of the different alternatives to electrification and hydrogen, evaluating their opportunities and challenges.
