Portugal and Spain are an example of commitment to the energy transition. Additionally,  today, there is a strong mutual economic exchange between both countries with a high growth potential. On their side, Iberian local administrations are taking advantage of European Union funds to promote energy transformation, with Porto being an example of permanent evolution. 

In this II Luso-Spanish Forum, Fundación Repsol and Fundación Corell address the opportunities for economic transformation and reindustrialization in the face of technological development driven by the Iberian commitment with energy transition.

The keys to the sustainable mobility

The new Sustainable Mobility Act will be approved during this year 2024, in order to accomplish one of the objectives agreed with the European Commission in the Addendum to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. It aims to support mobility as a social right, promote clean and healthy mobility, bet on digitalization and innovation and improve the quality of investment decisions and expenses in transport and mobility, as well as developing new tools to increase public participation.

During this conference organized by the Repsol Foundation and the School of Unidad Editorial, the keys to this new regulation will be approached from the different points of view by the agents involved, in the path towards a fair and inclusive energy transition.

The keys to decarbonizing road transport in Portugal

Transport represents a quarter of the European Union's greenhouse gas emissions and, within it, it is road transport that represents the largest percentage. To achieve climate goals, the European Commission's "Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy" defines objectives to make mobility greener and more resilient, while ensuring the decarbonization of the transport sector and the connectivity of the European Union. How does Portugal assume these commitments? What strengths does Portugal have in this transition?
