Roadmap for the transition to a competitive and fully decarbonized industry. Education and research program with the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas
Objective of the education and research program
To analyze the opportunities for decarbonization in the industrial sector, by proposing solutions based on technological neutrality and also considering other ethical, social, and economic aspects that have an impact on industrial decarbonization.
Why decarbonization of industry?
The European Green Deal is a set of policies aimed at making Europe climate neutral by 2050. To achieve this ambitious target, the Fit for 55, a set of measures aimed at reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% compared to 1990 levels by 2030, is being implemented. The decarbonization of industry is a key pillar to achieve this objective, and it is especially relevant in the case of some energy-intensive industrial sectors, due to their high thermal demand in certain stages of their process.
Lines of work 2023
- Analysis of carbon footprint reduction opportunities and monitoring of technologies applicable to the decarbonization of the cement industry.
- Impact of critical raw materials and energy geopolitics on industrial decarbonization.
